Serial-to-Ethernet gateway incorporates web module technology letting serial devices be monitored and controlled through standard web browsers without installing dedicated application software.

Artila Electronics has announced the Aport-211W Mini-Mighty serial-to-Ethernet gateway, which incorporates Artila's Web Module technology enabling RS232, 422 and 485 serial devices to be monitored and controlled through standard web browsers without the need to install dedicated application software.

The gateway provides a transparent data channel between a serial device and the TCP/IP network, making the serial device accessible using standard TCP/IP protocols.

It can function as a TCP server, TCP client or UDP node on a network.

It comes with a mini-web server, plus 64Kbyte of flash memory to store user web pages.

With Java applet or Activex controls, users can implement simple browser-based device monitoring and control.

The Aport-211W provides eight TTL-compatible, digital I/O pins by means of its command port, allowing users to perform remote on-off controls through LAN and WAN.

Users can locate, configure and manage all Aport-211Ws on the same network segment with the included Windows utility.

For users that need to integrate management functions with their own application software, a pre-defined Ascii command set is available to manage the Aport-211W's controls.
