Automatic transfer switches meet all the standards
Designed for emergency and standby operations, ASCO's new 7000 Series is the first CE marked, IEC 60947-6-1 compliant and Kema Keur marked range of automatic transfer switches in the world.
ASCO's new 7000 Series is the first CE marked, IEC 60947-6-1 compliant and Kema Keur marked range of automatic transfer switches in the world.
Designed for emergency and standby operations, the 7000 Series units are purpose built - and approved - Automatic Transfer Switches rather than assemblies of contactors or circuit breakers.
This provides safeguards to consulting engineers and contractors who specify and install ATS systems.
The 7000 Series is the most advanced range of automatic transfer switches currently available.
It is designed to ensure the fast and safe transfer of loads up to 4000 amperes to emergency sources in all types of critical operating environments.
These include healthcare facilities, data processing centres, telecommunication centres, airports, process manufacturing plants, government buildings, money markets - and many more.
A unique design means that the 7000 Series is the only true double throw, inherently interlocked mechanically held range of transfer switches on the market.
Available in open or enclosed configurations, each 7000 Series ATS comprises a reliable, field proven solenoid operating mechanism which, when combined with a programmable micro-processor controller plus keypad and LCD display, offers the most advanced method of transferring all types of loads such as motors, electronic drives, UPS's and micro-processor based systems.
The design of the 7000 Series units is also the realisation that flexibility in power switching is essential.
The modularity of the design means that four types of transfer switching solutions are provided.
These are Closed Transition, Delayed Transition, Non-Automatic Transition, Automatic Transition and Automatic Transfer with Bypass Isolation.
Closed Transition 7000 Series ATS units feature contacts that overlap, permitting the transfer of electrical loads without power interruption.
The switches transfer in the make- before- break mode if both sources are within acceptable parameters.
Their operation is controlled by the 7000 Series micro-processor which continuously monitors source conditions and automatically determines whether the load transfer should be open (conventional non-overlap mode) or closed transition.
Delayed Transition versions of the 7000 Series ATS switches are designed to provide transfer of loads between power sources with an intentional load disconnection position for an adjustable period of time.
As an additional safeguard these units are fitted with mechanical interlocks to prevent direct connection to both power sources.
Applications for the Delayed Transition 7000 units include older style variable frequency drives, rectifier banks and specialised medical equipment.
ASCO's non-automatic transfer switches are electrically operated units, which are operated with manual control switches mounted locally or at remote locations.
ASCO's microprocessor controller can be used with these units to prevent inadvertent operation under low voltage conditions.
The microprocessor also provides for the addition of optional accessories to the transfer switches.
ASCO's 7000 Series units are fully automatic and have a true double throw action.
They are designed to be inherently interlocked without any hooks or latching mechanisms.
The single solenoid operator is only momentary energised from the healthy source the unit is changing to.
This unique feature is ideally suited for applications such as fire fighting lifts and fire pump applications.
This type of functionality is employed on 7000 Series transfer switches that are used in such places as hospitals, where there is a requirement for the emergency power systems to be inspected, maintained or tested without power interruption.
The bypass function feeds the load directly around the transfer switch without even a momentary interruption of power.
The isolation section of the bypass switch can then be actuated to allow maintenance or inspection via a unique draw out carriage.
Powerful Communications Enable World-Wide Emergency Power System Control In addition to its many standard features, the 7000 Series offers users the facility for local/remote serial communications via an options module.
The module links the 7000 Series units to ASCO's PowerQuest VPi monitoring and control management system.
PowerQuest is available with an easy-to-understand Windows operating system that allows the monitoring and control of transfer switches and engine generators from a personal computer.
The power and flexibility of this system means that with an ASCO modem connection users can remotely access and/or control their emergency power system, from around the corner or around the world.
The 7000 Series transfer switches are a true world product.
In addition to being independently qualified and listed to IEC 60947-6-1 and CE and Kema Keur marked, they also meet all the requirements of UL 1008 and the CSA organisation for transfer switches.
