Asco Joucomatic's new KN range of short stroke cylinders have been designed with the needs of the automobile industry in mind and comply with the new European AFNOR NF E 49-004 standard Their principal application is as flange cylinders; however, their compact size means that they fit easily into assembly lines and conveyors, enabling them to be used as stops or as actuators in switching systems

Innovative pneumatic cylinders are ultra-compact
Asco Joucomatic's new compact PEC cylinders are designed with innovative flat end caps and female piston rods which reduce their volume by a massive 65%, compared to an equivalent standard cylinder
The KN cylinders are available in eight bore sizes from 20mm to 100mm and have stroke lengths from as little as 5mm up to a maximum of 80mm.
Robustly constructed from aluminium alloy, with pistons rods of stainless steel or hard chrome plated steel, the cylinders are equipped, as standard, with a permanent magnet to aid positional sensing.
Importantly the field strength of this magnet on the surface of the cylinder complies with CNOMO recommendations.
Reliable detection is guaranteed, therefore, and the problems of double or even triple detection are avoided.
The compact profiled bodies of the KN cylinders feature two grooves on each of three sides to provide great flexibility in the fitting of magnetic positional detectors.
Even with the addition of these detectors the KN cylinders retain their compact dimensions.
The reason is Asco Joucomatic's new design of detectors with integral mountings.
These fit right into the cylinders dovetail grooves, enabling them to save space and still monitor position control.
An additional benefit of the design is that, due to their reduced size, two detectors can be mounted on the same side of a cylinder for end of stroke position detection.
The versatility of the KN range is enhanced by the many different versions available.
These include: single acting, rod returned or rod out, double acting, single rod or through rod and double acting with a rod anti-rotation device.
All of these versions are suitable for operation at pressures up to 10bar, on air or neutral gas, filtered lubricated or dry. Request a free brochure from Asco Numatics ...
