A new flat spring solenoid valve offers an operating life of 1 billion cycles when used with neutral gases.

Asco Scientific's new flat spring solenoid valve offers an operating life of 1 billion cycles when used with neutral gases.

Designed to meet the needs of the medical/analytical and industrial sectors, the new valve combines energy saving operation (0.6W) with response times of less than 10ms for faster analysis, and guaranteed protection against fluid contamination.

Key to the performance of the Series 065 valve is Asco Scientific's flat spring technology; this combines both valve spring and core functions in a unique flat part manufactured from a special stainless steel.

The result is a highly compact no-maintenance valve with only one moving part; a design that, with no loss of core material due to friction, offers both high levels of process reliability and also integrity of the fluid controlled.

Intended for the control of gases and liquids, and vacuum (0.1bar(a)) in the temperature range from 0 to 60C, the Series 065 valves are AISI 303 stainless-steel-bodied units with internals also of stainless steel, and seals and discs of high-performance FPM (fluoroelastomer/Viton).

This construction ensures the widest range of chemical compatibility, a feature that can be extended with the option of Kalrez (FFPM) seals for aggressive fluids.

In addition, other options include versions of the valves adapted for oxygen service; valves with medical pipe connections (10/32 UNF), and higher power units with faster response times, of less than 1ms.

The small size and variety of configurations (2/2 NC and NO and 3/2NC) and connection options available, including threaded or pad mount versions for installation into multi-manifolds, make the Series 065 valves easy to integrate into medical and analytical equipment such as gas chromatographs, breathing systems (ventilator/concentrator) and dental equipment.

In addition, the same features mean that the valves are also first choice in industrial applications; in equipment such as gas and smoke analysers, vacuum lifters used in semiconductor production, leak detectors, and also many general applications.

The Series 065 is available in four orifice sizes - 0.6, 1, 1.4 and 2.0mm - providing KVs in the range from 0.22 to 0.95 litre/min.

The valves are supplied with integrated coils to make assembly easier, the user having a wide choice of 6, 12 and 24V DC voltages, a feature which makes the valves eminently suitable for use on mobile equipment.
