A special installation workshop is just one of the highlights of the ASi-tech 2004 Conference programme.

A special installation workshop is just one of the highlights of the ASi-tech 2004 Conference programme.

The 2004 events, to be held at Durham County Cricket Club on 2nd March and Gloucestershire Cricket Club on 4th March will host a full day of seminars (same papers at both venues) that will include topics such as the integration of AS-Interface with higher-level fieldbuses, process industry integration and networked safety standards.

The free-of-charge technical conference will cover the basics of AS-Interface technology, application issues for AS-Interface in the factory automation and process control industries as well as a renewed look at networked safety systems including the latest developments with AS-Interface Safety at Work.

The installation workshop after lunch will address the importance of getting both the mechanical and electrical parts of AS-Interface correct particularly if you're integrating a Safety at Work network.

Seminars at the event will include: the keynote speech on "Trends and developments in industrial networking, including Industrial Ethernet"; "Introduction to AS-Interface technology"; "Integrating AS-Interface into higher level systems"; "Application 1: process industry, with focus on integration"; and "Application 2: factory automation.

The installation workshop on "Installing Safety at Work devices" will cover: "Networked safety: standards and regulations"; "New safety monitor"; and "Safety application: Manchester Airport, business benefits".

A full programme can be found on the AS-Interface website.

ASi-tech 2004 will again feature an exhibition with AS-Interface members showing their latest products and solutions.

AS-i UK member companies taking part are Bihl+Wiedermann, Burkert Fluid Control Systems, Fortress Interlocks, ifm electronic, LC Automation, Manchester Metropolitan University, Phoenix Contact and Siemens Automation and Drives.
