ASM introduces magnetic rotary position sensor

An ASM product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 4, 2008

ASM has introduced its PRAS20, a non-contact, rotary position sensor in a slim 6mm (1/4in) low profile package.

The PRAS20 yields a 0.5-4.5V ratiometric analog output that is available either with a complete 360deg measurement range or with smaller ranges in 15deg increments.

This wear-free design measures angular displacement with an external permanent magnet.

The circuitry for the sensor is encapsulated in a glass fibre reinforced thermoplastic that provides shock and vibration resistance ratings of 100g/11ms shock and 20g, 10Hz-2kHz, 10 cycles vibration.

ASM said that the economical, compact and ultra-thin design of the PRAS20 makes it suitable for numerous OEM motion control and process automation applications.
