The latest range of Assemtech proximity sensors use inductive or capacitive detection techniques, and are manufactured with a fully threaded cylindrical body or as a square sensor block.
Inductive sensors are used to detect metallic objects, targets or material, at a range from the sensor face of 1-2mm for the smallest sensors, with an M8 threaded body.

This range extends to 15mm for the larger sensors, available with M12, M18 and M30 threaded bodies.
Used for the detection of machine components, robot arms, valve positioning arms, RPM and tooth or processed metal parts counting, the IP67 sensor can be supplied with an electrical connector or a 2m integral cable.
Powered by 10-30V DC, most units provide a third terminal that offers either an NPN or a PNP output, with either NO or NC function.
The presence of a detected metal target is indicated by a green LED in the sensor body.
Other options include a four-wire version providing both NO and NC outputs on DC circuits, plus a two-wire version for connection in series with the switched load, operating on 90-250V AC or 10-30V DC circuits.
The alternative versions of these sensors use a capacitance detection principle, built to a similar format.
These Assemtech proximity sensors incorporate a potentiometer to allow fine tuning of the sensing range, and operate by detecting a change in the dielectric constant of the material in front of the sensor.
Capable of sensing through opaque plastic or glass container walls, Assemtech capacitance sensors can be used to create a non-contact level measurement system for liquids or foodstuffs, inside a non-metallic container.
The sensors can also detect metallic objects and are suitable for parts counting, or standard proximity sensing for packages or metallic objects.
