The AP industrial series of DC motors is available in series wound and permanent magnet models, in a wide range of standard types, frame sizes, voltages and power ratings to 17kW.

Applications for this type of motor include hydraulic pumping, emergency steering systems, railway point and barrier operation, electric traction, greenhouse controls, lifting and hoist operation.

"A novel feature is that the motors can operate down to speeds as low as 180rev/min", commented Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's Technical Sales Director.

"This means that a gearbox may not be required, leading to space and cost savings".

Available in small to medium volumes, the motors are designed to withstand extreme conditions.

Standard ranges cover protection classes IP20 to IP65, but fully submersible IP68-rated models are also available.

There is also a wide range of options, including brakes, encoders, gearboxes and electronic speed controllers.
