Microstepping at full-step prices!
Astrosyn's new compact P780 Multi-function Bipolar Drive Module incorporates microstepping at the price levels normally associated with conventional full and half-stepping bipolar drives.
The four-phase bipolar unit outputs a variable phase current of between 1 and 7A.
It offers full-step and microstep operation to 2000 step/rev, and incorporates an auto current reduction mode.
The drive also features a novel antiresonance adjustment.
Mechanical resonance can be a problem when stepper motors are required to operate at low speeds, causing audible noise and vibration of the motor.
However, a potentiometer on the P210 can be fine tuned manually to smooth out this uneven operation.
"This low cost drive is ideal for applications where space is limited", said Simon Hunt, Astrosyn's Technical Sales Director.
"We are already receiving a lot of interest from the packaging and machine tool industries".
The supply voltage range is from 24 to 80V and the drive is simple to install.
