Autodesk is the first company in the CAD industry to introduce this new software development and delivery model, which is designed to increase customer satisfaction.
Design engineers get image conscious
Richard Blatcher of Autodesk says visualisation needn't be a luxury.
Enhancing the design process and improving productivity, ADT 3.3 incorporates object technology which efficiently creates an architectural model in 2D or 3D with intelligent objects such as curtain walls, window assemblies, structural members and clash detection to quickly create a building model.
These intelligent objects behave according to real-world properties, so they automatically update to reflect design changes.
The Test Drive is aimed at existing users of AutoCAD-based products (such as AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Land Desktop, AutoCAD and associated products) who are reviewing their solutions as well as those who are considering upgrading an earlier version of ADT.

"A common perception amongst AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD users is the necessity to work in 3D when using ADT," says Simon Jones, technical application manager, Autodesk.
"In reality, this is not the case.
The Test Drive demonstrates how, by using just a few key tools, an AutoCAD LT or AutoCAD user can gain massive productivity benefits without radically changing their current work process - and still work in 2D." Phil Palmer, CAD Development Manager at HBG Construction said: "We have been using object technology for the past 10 years.
The ADT 3.3 Test Drive gives a really good flavour if you're new to the concept.
I thought the Test Drive was a very good introduction to ADT - it was very simple to use and follow.
Creating walls is vastly quicker in comparison.
We constantly work within a 3D environment, but ADT shows how easy it is to continue working in 2D, changing into a 3D model very simply.
Within 2 or 3 hours, you can see what the current ADT 3.3 functionality is capable of doing!" The Test Drive, which runs at the user's own pace, enables a structure (known as a Pavilion) to be built using a selection of the latest features in ADT 3.3 and covers a range of applications from members of the Autodesk Developer Network - companies that develop applications that enhance the evolution of the Autodesk Architectural Desktop building model.
These include: * Conceptual analysis with Construct ADT (IES Ltd) * Structural frame design and analysis with 3D+ and S-Frame (CSC Ltd) * Clash detection and design review with NavisWorks (LightWork Design Ltd) * Building Services design with BsLink (CSB Ltd) Along with a full electronic script showing how to design the Pavilion there are also detailed, fully-rendered images of the final design using Autodesk 3D Studio Viz.
