Productivity and presentation extension

Autodesk has added a new product extension for Autodesk Architectural Desktop Subscription Program members.

Autodesk has added a new product extension for Autodesk Architectural Desktop Subscription Program members The Productivity and Presentation Extension for Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 includes productivity-boosting features such as: multitagging (for tagging many objects simultaneously); enhanced table cell editing (for efficient editing of object data); generate napkin sketch (applies a hand-drawn effect on precision drawings); visual audit (for detecting non-AEC objects); and convert to 3D solids (for converting intelligent AEC objects to 3D solids for better downstream data handling)

The features streamline the tasks involved in the documentation process and save users time, improve accuracy and help maintain drawing standards.

To develop compelling presentations, the new Generate Napkin Sketch feature enables users to apply a hand-drawn look to all or part of a design.

"The subscription program for Architectural Desktop provides firms with new and powerful features on a regular basis", said Julian Gonzalez, product manager for Autodesk Architectural Desktop.

"With each new downloadable extension, IT departments no longer have to manage cumbersome full product upgrades".

The multitag feature lets customers tag multiple objects with one command.

This streamlines the documentation process by enabling users to tag many objects (spaces, doors and windows) in one easy step.

With enhanced table cell editing users can now add missing or modify existing object property set information, including objects within external references (xrefs).

The informative tool tip saves time by suggesting why scheduled data may be missing or incomplete.

The napkin sketch feature, when applied to all or part of a drawing, generates a more artistically pleasing version of the hard-line design.

Similar to a hand-drawn look, generate napkin sketch can also be used to highlight areas of a design that are still under development.

Users can now hide all AEC objects, Mtext, text, leaders and dimensions in a drawing or xref file, highlighting AutoCAD-only entities.

This feature improves accuracy in design development and construction documentation and optimises downstream data handling in other Autodesk building design software products.

By converting all or parts of the building model to 3D solids, the use of the data downstream is expanded as intelligent AEC objects are transformed into 3D solids.

These 3D solids can be recognised by many widely used 3D modelling, visualisation, stereo lithography and CNC matching applications.

For an annual fee, the Autodesk Subscription Program provides licensed users with incremental, feature-enhancing extensions that boost product functionality and simplify the upgrade process.

It also provides members e-Learning modules for feature-based extensions and a convenient, one-stop access point to their accounts through the Autodesk Point A website, an industry-specific, personal, global access point to Autodesk products, services and support.
