Autodesk has completed the acquisition of CAiCE Software Corp, a Florida-based developer that specialises in providing innovative survey, construction and highway design software solutions.

Autodesk has completed the acquisition of CAiCE Software Corp, a Florida-based developer that specialises in providing innovative survey, construction and highway design software solutions to Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and their consultants The deal closed on 26th September 2002

Autodesk has also formed a new Transportation Group within the Autodesk GIS Solutions Division.

The new Transportation Group builds on the strength of CAiCE's expertise to focus on delivering powerful visualisation, survey, design and workflow capabilities specific to highways, airports, railroads and other transportation agencies and consultants in the public and private sector.

Alan Akman, former CEO of CAiCE Software, who was named Director of Industry Marketing - Transportation following the acquisition, will lead the group.

"Having a single set of design data that flows across the planning, design, construction and maintenance of transportation projects is very important to large transportation agencies", said Larry Diamond, vice president of the GIS Solutions Division at Autodesk.

"Since we announced the acquisition, the feedback from customers has been extremely positive.

They understand the value of combining CAiCE's transportation software with Autodesk's civil engineering and GIS applications to increase efficiency, cut costs and expand the workflow to include the planners, engineers, and consultants".
