Autodesk Inventor Release 4: over 150 enhancements
Autodesk today shipped Release 4 of its high-performance 3D mechanical design software, Autodesk Inventor, with over 150 enhancements in this release
Offering specialised UK content libraries and UK metric dimensional units, this localised release may now be used on building projects not only in the UK, but also in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and any other region that adheres to the British Standard Institute's (BSI) guidelines and generally accepted drafting practices and procedures.
Additionally, the localised content enhances co-ordination among worldwide offices and increases the accuracy of construction documents created using Autodesk Building Systems 3.
"The UK content allows any firm using BSI standards to quickly begin producing drawings without spending significant time creating customised content", said Joe Domanski, EMEA Product Marketing Manager, Building Solutions Division, Autodesk.
"As a result, engineers decrease drafting time and improve accuracy, resulting in higher quality construction documents for our clients".
The UK version includes locale-specific language in the user interfaces and new content that supports common UK diagramming and drafting requirements, enhancing the functionality for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines in one powerful and cost-effective application.
Duct dimensions, pipe diameters and materials, parts sizes, conduit diameters and types, cable tray diameters and types, part size name and catalogue entry tables are all in UK terminology, sizes and units of measurement.
Additionally, schematic symbols have been added to provide industry specific symbols and revised style descriptions for use in the UK, across all three MEP disciplines.
Autodesk contracted with its UK-based development partner, Coins, to convert the existing US metric catalogues for Building Systems 3 into UK versions, containing content conforming to standard British sizes, terminology and symbology.
Coins' experienced team of software consultants completed the work successfully to the requirements set by Autodesk.
