A new product scheme across EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) enables educational users to participate for the first time in the Autodesk subscription programme In return for a small annual fee, this will allow them to keep their design tools up-to-date by automatically receiving the latest versions of software, including feature-enhancing extensions

The scheme is spearheaded by the introduction of Autodesk's new 2004 family of products which includes Autodesk Inventor Series 7, AutoCAD 2004, Autodesk Map Series 2004, Autodesk Land Desktop 2004, Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2004 and AutoCAD LT 2004.

Autodesk Architectural Studio 3.1 and Autodesk Revit 5 are also featured.

"Customers taking out subscriptions will find managing school budgets much more straightforward", says Jerry Creson, Autodesk's Senior Director, EMEA Business Development.

"They help to eliminate unpredictable upgrade costs, protect investment in technology and, ultimately, decrease total cost of ownership".

The scheme also sees the introduction of new licence packs tailored to today's typical classroom sizes with 10- and 20-seat network licence module (NLM) packages replacing the 30-pack concept used previously.

The packs are flexibly priced.

Each version is available either at standard price without subscription or in special low-priced versions with mandatory subscription.

In addition, Autodesk provides teacher copies of the software to aid lesson preparation and marking outside the classroom.

These teacher copies are provided as SLM (stand-alone) licences, with one supplied in every 10-seat NLM pack and two per 20-seat pack.

"We have tailored our educational design offering to meet the specific needs of schools, colleges and universities", continues Creson.

"The introduction of this scheme reflects the strength of our commitment to the educational sector and the strategic importance of this market - today's students are tomorrow's commercial customers".
