Kevin Ison is the UK and Ireland Business Unit Manager for the newly created Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions Division (MSD).

Reporting directly to Area Sales Director Claude Helf, Ison has responsibility for MSD's UK sales team and for the ongoing development of channel sales across the UK and Ireland.

"Kevin has an excellent track record of achieving sales objectives and an in-depth understanding of the CAD market, built up over 16 years working in the industry", says Helf.

"We are confident he will make a very positive contribution to the future success of this new division".

Ison founded SolidBase UK, the SolidWorks reseller in 1996, and was its Managing Director until its acquisition in May 2002 by NT CADCAM, where, for the last year, he has worked as Director of Business Development.

He founded his first business in 1993 when, with a partner, he set up the computer consultancy, Lighthouse.

Previously, Ison spent four years at Applicon, a pioneer in the 3D modelling arena, where he was a Sales Engineer and, latterly, Northern Sales Manager.

Ison has a degree in civil engineering from the University of Dundee and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Civil Engineer.

He spent the early years of his career working in a variety of engineering roles.

"I am looking forward to working for a company with Autodesk's comprehensive solutions portfolio, research and development spend and commitment to the manufacturing industry", says Ison.

"I strongly believe that Autodesk, with Autodesk Inventor Series and Inventor Professional, will confirm its position as the standard for designers working in both 2D and 3D".

Ison's appointment is effective immediately.

He is based at Autodesk's UK headquarters in Farnborough, Hampshire.
