He was previously president Europe for Mentor Graphics and was responsible for raising Mentor's European market position significantly in revenue, market share and profitability.
Popp held a variety of sales and marketing positions during his nine years at Mentor Graphics, including Worldwide Corporate Marketing Director based in the USA.
Before joining Mentor Graphics he spent nine years at Texas Instruments in various sales, marketing and management roles.
He was one of the founders of the European HEC-3G Telecom Club as well as the annual DATE event (European Design Automation and Test Conference).
He is also a member of the international advisory board of HEC, one of Europe's leading business schools.
A former champion tennis player, Popp toured the international tennis circuit in the 1980s.
He holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from the Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg.
