Programme simplifies educational licensing

An Autodesk product story

The new Autodesk Campus programme is a dedicated programme for educational settings, which allows the installation of 100 or more licences for an annual fee.

The programme permits access to a range of Autodesk software covering all main design requirements in educational settings, ranging from classic AutoCAD to dedicated tools such as Autodesk Inventor for industrial design, Autodesk Revit for architecture, and Autodesk Map 3D or Autodesk Civil 3D for GIS and civil engineering applications.

The Autodesk Campus package also includes Autodesk VIZ rendering, 3D modelling and animation software.

The Autodesk Campus licence will enable educational institutions to vary their licence mix over the course of the academic year by first specifying the number of seats required and then simply activating or deactivating new licence software as their educational needs evolve, using a "communicating vessels" model.

This means that Autodesk Campus licences are not acquired but are instead supplied in accordance with the Autodesk Subscription licence, which is based on an all inclusive annual fee.

This in turn allows for simpler and more transparent software management that enables various departments to co-operate in such a way as to avoid duplicate or overlapping licence acquisition.

Autodesk Campus also allows teachers more leeway for experimentation with various uses of Autodesk and AutoCAD software without having to acquire new licences.

"Autodesk Campus License was designed in response to frequent requests from secondary schools, colleges and vocational training institutions for a more flexible Autodesk software licence management solution", noted Roberto Vergani, Education Marketing Manager Autodesk Europe.

"Autodesk Campus is an innovative licence that streamlines day to day computer-based software licence management for educational institutions and makes these processes more efficient and flexible".

"A number of secondary and tertiary institutions have been successfully using Autodesk products for many years for various technical, engineering, technological and design disciplines".

"However, Autodesk Campus permits more efficient intra-institutional co-operation in terms of software licence and version management".

"In short, the Autodesk Campus licence will make life much easier for all concerned".

The Autodesk Campus programme is the best way for educational institutions not only to update their Autodesk Software rapidly, but also to download newly released product extensions.

The Autodesk subscription includes various eLearning modules that provide students and instructors with invaluable support.

System administrators will find management of a single licensing agreement (based on a fixed number of seats) to be extremely convenient since this arrangement allows the licensing mix to be varied over the course of the year irrespective of the products being used.

"Autodesk is the world's only software provider that offers such a broad range of design software", notes Vergani.

"The Autodesk Campus licence is the ideal tool for managing all the software an educational institution needs for interdisciplinary teaching and learning".

"And what's more, this management is realised on the basis of a single agreement from one provider".

"The Autodesk Campus licence also allows for economies of scale since an entire user group is covered by a single licence, plus the fact that multiyear agreements are available, thus avoiding the educational and government bureaucracy that is generally associated with software acquisition processes in public educational institutions".

"Autodesk Campus will also allow us to meet the needs of schools and colleges that already use Autodesk products, since the solution enables these institutions to keep their software current by migrating to a single Campus agreement".
