BOC Edwards has chosen Autodesk's Productstream to manage data from overseas sites producing its nonstandard systemised products
Increasing globalisation has led BOC Edwards to invest in Autodesk Productstream.
The company has chosen Autodesk's solution to manage data from overseas sites producing its nonstandard systemised products after comprehensive trials.
It predicts that the entire Autodesk solution will enhance further the time-saving benefits already achieved through using Autodesk Inventor.
Speaking from the BOC Edwards site in Korea, Global Engineering Systems Manager, Mark Hadlum, said that they had chosen the Autodesk solution for BOC Edwards' worldwide operations because it offered, extensive support, wide selection of different languages and a truly international solution.
"We also needed to improve communications with our local suppliers and customers and this was much easier with a format from a global vendor that everyone can use".
He reported that the need for a data management system had become acute.
"We were using our standard directories and relying on people to check items in and out".
"But often this just didn't work".
"For example, at one time we had the same drawing with two different issue numbers".
"Items were being sourced into Korea from China at the same time as they were being sourced from the UK".
"Using Productstream we believe that this will become a thing of the past".
Hadlum is working closely with Autodesk reseller partner Mice Solutions and local Autodesk partners throughout the process.
John Jervis of Mice explains: "As the complexity of its designs has increased over the years, BOC Edwards has identified the need for an effective data management solution working across design groups located world-wide".
"We have proved the Autodesk technology to BOC Edwards locally in the UK - and we are now busy implementing the solution together with our Autodesk partners in Asia".
"BOC Edwards then plans to roll out Productstream to the rest of its global organisation".
"In Korea, where the solution has already been implemented, the signs are positive".
"Productstream is becoming totally integrated into our processes and already working with the data".
"Everybody is quite excited as for once they are getting secure and reliable data - something that before now has been frustratingly difficult", concludes Hadlum.
