Autodesk Inventor aids design of advanced robot

An Autodesk product story

A technically advanced robot has been designed in 3D using Autodesk Inventor.

The robot, called Satan's Mutt, was specially developed for The Gadget Show, as part of a challenge set by two of its presenters.

To steer its weapons, the robot will be controlled by a Wii-Mote from the Nintendo Wii rather than traditional remote control technology.

The project's designated designer, John Reid, selected Autodesk Inventor to help create Satan's Mutt.

'Inventor supports digital prototyping and I see it as the industry-standard software for this type of design,' he said.

'The ability to integrate all the design data into a single digital model enables you to streamline the design process without compromising the quality of design,' he added.

Shortening the design cycle in this way allowed Reid to complete the whole development from concept to execution in six weeks.
