PPG Industries' GPS system will standardise environment, health and safety (EHandS) data about its products.

PPG Industries has signed a multi-year contract for Atrion's Materials Compliance solution, which becomes a technology backbone of its Global product stewardship (GPS) system.

The GPS system will consolidate and standardise environment, health and safety (EHandS) data about products as well as the procedures for generating material safety data sheets (M)SDS, hazard label content and other regulatory documents.

Dr Reg Norton, PPG's Vice President, Environment, Health and Safety commented, "GPS will enable us to move from multiple, region-specific systems for generating (M)SDS, hazard label content and other regulatory documents to a single, efficient system serving all of PPG, which will improve EHandS support to PPG's growing global businesses".

"Atrion's offerings and services were a natural selection to deliver an efficient, dependable solution across our operations".

"Knowledge-based products, such as their compliance library loaded with up to date regulatory data, rules, languages and forms for use within GPS - will help to make this project a success".

Joe Cella, Vice President Sales, North America for Atrion International said, "Partnering with an industry leader such as PPG demonstrates the value of Atrion's regulatory knowledge to global players in the paints and coatings industry looking to meet compliance challenges".
