Blind threaded steel studs a practical alternative

An Atlas Engineering product story

SpinTite blind threaded steel studs are designed to provide strong external threads in "blind" attachment applications, where only one side of a workpiece is accessible

A free product bulletin profiling new SpinTite blind threaded steel studs is now available from Atlas Engineering.

These studs (Type AEST) are designed to provide strong external threads in "blind" attachment applications, where only one side of a workpiece is accessible for fastener installation and assembly.

They can serve as a practical alternative to tapped holes, weld nuts, rivets, and self-drilling or tapping screws.

Type AES blind threaded steel studs are available in unified and metric thread sizes #6-32 through 3/8-16 and M4 through M10 and in lengths ranging from .500" through 1.088" and 12mm through 25.9mm.

The bulletin covers relevant specifications, performance data, and installation procedure.

Installed from the accessible "front" side of a workpiece, SpinTite blind threaded studs can be utilized in metal components as thin as .020"/0.51mm.

Their use eliminates any need for additional hardware beyond a mating nut to complete final component assembly.

The studs can be installed permanently even after finish utilizing a hand-held portable tool.

As an application benefit, the studs can serve as a locating element when joining two components.

Typical applications for the studs can include aircraft seat trays, automobile mirrors, electronics cabinetry hardware, and appliance hinges and handles, as well as closed-structure materials with minimum backside clearance, such as roll forms and tubing.
