Lee Griggs, a product specialist with ART VPS, has been named one of six Maya Masters for 2004 Masters are defined by Alias, developer of Maya 3D animation software, as those "whose work reshapes and redefines the boundaries of technology, art and visualisation"

Twenty-two Maya Masters have been selected worldwide since Alias began the program in 2001.

"My visualisations show what is possible combining HDRI [high-dynamic-range imaging], 3D animation software, and physically based rendering hardware that gives you the speed and dedicated features to emulate real-world lighting, materials and shading", says Griggs.

Griggs has worked in visual communication for 10 years.

His experience ranges from multimedia for children's education and language learning, to computer games, television ads, promotional videos, and product visualisations.

In 2003, he created the animated logo for Siggraph, the world's leading show for the computer graphics industry.

In his current job, Griggs travels around the world, visiting major corporations and studios to demonstrate the marketing and communications power of photographic-quality 3D images rendered with ART VPS's hardware ray-tracing technology.

"Meeting and working with extremely talented and creative people is very inspiring", he says.

"I like being able to match these people with the hardware technology that enables new possibilities in their work".
