Virtual photography is helping a pioneering UK packaging solutions company to reduce the time and costs associated with delivering new product designs.
AIR invested in four Render Drives (two RD5000s and two RD6400s), enabling the company to create jobs at high resolutions.
Its preview capability lets AIR quickly ascertain if the image will turn out as expected, saving time and increasing confidence in the results.
Keith Jeffery at AIR said: "Render Drive allows us to produce images so real, that people do not even question the authenticity of the subject".
"On a recent small animation job, we rendered frames in 30 minutes in full high dynamic range (HDR) on a single Render Drive; our customer was rendering frames without HDR on its five station mental Ray farm in over 1.5 hours".
The RD6400 provides offline final-frame rendering for an unlimited number of users.
It can address model sizes of 30 million polygons or more at resolutions that exceed the capabilities of current display devices and printers.
Faster I/O speeds are provided by a gigabit networking system.
It is available in configurations of 16, 32 and 48 AR350 processors.
