Flexible conduits for rail applications
Adaptaflex is exhibiting more than 20 flexible conduit systems suitable for rail applications at Railtex 2007.
Flexible conduit system protects cables
The highly versatile, one-piece Adaptalok non-metallic conduit system offers fast, easy installation, with push and twist fittings and IP66 ingress protection as standard.
The new standard, BS EN61386, covers the performance characteristics of flexible conduit systems.
The company's super low fire hazard Polyketone system, Type PK, is the only BS6853 class 1A nonmetallic flexible conduit available, making it suitable for use on underground systems both in stations and on carriages.
The system offers high UV resistance, flexibility and long life and is suitable for both static and flexing applications.
It is also available with stainless steel or tinned copper overbraids for safety critical and harsh environments.
Similarly, Type PR is an enhanced low fire hazard overbraided system.
The latest nonmetallic, flexible conduit system, Type CP, has been specifically developed by Adaptaflex for rail use.
It is already finding favour with international locomotive and carriage builders.
Using a special co-polymer material that combines the benefits of the existing PI and PR conduits, it offers high flexibility, with a wide operating temperature range, low fire hazard (LFH) capability and extremely low toxicity.
This makes it ideally for use inside or beneath trains and carriages, as well as on public transport, light rail and tramway systems.
An added advantage is that it facilitates the use of the extensive range of one-piece, push and twist Adaptalok fittings, making installation both fast and effective, with IP66 ingress protection as standard.
This can be increased to IP68 and IP69k by using the Adaptalok highly visible insert seal.
Adaptaflex has developed a number of dedicated flexible conduit systems suitable for the rail industry.
These include both metallic and nonmetallic systems, offering ingress protection from IP66, as standard, through to IP67, IP68 and IP69k.
They provide the most suitable application solution, whether used on the locomotive, carriage, infrastructure project, trackside or safety critical system.
Types PA and PI are also being increasingly used in rail applications.
Particularly cost-effective is the LFH-SP Adaptasteel, liquid-resistant, metallic system with enhanced low fire hazard capabilities. Request a free brochure from Adaptaflex ...
