All-round packaging improvement for Tabbies
When Xertrex, a stationery manufacturer based in Illinois, USA, wanted to improve the image of its packaging and speed up its packaging processes it turned to Automated Packaging Systems
Managing Director, Ian Dovey, explains that, "As one of the key employers in Malvern, we've always recognised the need to help our staff to improve their skills in all areas of the business process, from production and administration to sales and marketing.
As a result, we already had many of the processes required by IIP either in place or under development and the IIP procedures helped us to formalise and improve still further much of what we were doing." APS, which manufactures packaging equipment used by major companies throughout the world, employs over 90 people at its Malvern based European headquarters.
The company estimates that, at any one time, up to ten per cent of its staff are engaged in on or off-site training courses and, as Ian Dovey points out, is currently planning, "To extend the staff development programme to ensure that we exceed the criteria expected by IIP and, perhaps, more importantly to continue to provide career opportunities for staff, while constantly improving the quality of products and service that we offer to our customers".
