history
More than 15 years of co-operation between Aucotec and various parts of the Siemens combine has led to a number of success stories.
The fruitful co-operation between various divisions of the Siemens combine and Aucotec has been going on for over 15 years The company, with headquarters in Hanover, is the largest independent German software developer for engineering systems and the associated services that deal with the design and operation of electrical engineering as well as measuring and control facilities
Beginning in 1989 with the first licences, in 1992 the two companies signed a skeleton contract for co-operation that stipulates the use of Aucotec products and their maintenance in writing.
Moreover this has resulted in an intensive exchange of experiences and results concerning the use of CAE systems, their advancement and the testing of new versions.
Thus over the years there has evolved a number of success stories: from metallurgical works via airports to power generation, from Erlangen via Vienna to Shanghai.
An outstanding result of the co-operation is the Hardware Configuration Link for automation technology and electrical engineering.
It enables the optimum bidirectional connection of ECAE systems with the configuration of the control and process control systems of the Simatic family such as PCS 7 and Step 7.
This is initially effected via the interface designed by Siemens and Aucotec, which creates an XML file from the ECAE data.
The information contained therein can then be handed over to Step7/HW Konfig by means of the likewise jointly developed processor or can be read back via an intelligent delta management.
The most recent generation of Aucotec products, Engineering Base (EB), also works with the Hardware Configuration Link.
This integrative solution, situated between E-design and automation, by far exceeds the conventional PLC assignment lists and thus meets the demand of Aucotec and therefore also EB to operate fast and error-free.
There are several other solutions that distinguish EB.
Engineering Base supports all operating steps intuitively and highly efficiently.
from the complete cabinet design to the display of the mechanical arrangement in the 2D layout, where EB uses device definitions from catalogues.
The software can also copy complete diagrams or complete standard cabinets and modify them fast and reliably.
Another strength of EB is its intelligent cable management as well as its Unicode capability or the seamlessly integrated Microsoft Visio.
As EB is equipped with an integrated database, all lists and diagrams are always up to date, no matter where changes are just being made.
This database logic also enables each user to freely define his or her workflow and thus to determine how to use EB to achieve his or her aims.
With over 150 years of history marked by innovation, Siemens is "a few" years ahead of Aucotec with its slightly more than 20 years of existence.
However, the most recent developments show that Aucotec has also taken up the cause of innovation and creativity for the benefit of the customers a good basis for the co-operation of the two companies to make future history. Request a free brochure from Aucotec ...
