The Citect SCADA system, distributed exclusively in the UK by Automation Products, has won the Australian Engineering Excellence Award.
The Citect SCADA system, distributed exclusively in the UK by Automation Products, has won the Australian Engineering Excellence Award recognizing technological achievement, creativity and vision.
The awards are the highlight of the Australian engineering calendar and are organized by the Institute of Engineers.
Citect is one of the leading PC based process monitoring packages in industry and has already sold 30,000 licenses worldwide.
The world's largest SCADA system, the Olympic Dam mining and quarrying plant in South Australia, relies on Citect to monitor and control over 450,000 points.
Processes controlled by the system include the smelter, concentrator, mine, hydromet, refinery and auxiliary services.
This project was itself awarded an Engineering Excellence Award, from the Sydney Division of the Institute of Engineers for Information Technology.
Citect is used in a variety of plant control applications and improves productivity, reduces waste and enhances safety.
It is now used in industries as diverse as food processing and telecommunications, the water industry and the automotive industry.
