Scada standardisation brings uniform benefits
In the late 1990s, obsolescence of existing systems challenged the wider De Beers group with the necessity of upgrading the plant-wide Scada systems at multiple Southern African operations.

Through clustering, control environments can reduce the high costs associated with multiple redundancies in hardware, while still ensuring server availability.

A large CitectScada system comprised of 2- 5000 point full system keys and 25 - 5000 point client displays allows the monitoring of Perth's integrated transportation system.
The same broad connectivity also extends to major PLC systems - with over 100 protocols available, HMI and database systems.
As a result, plant managers and even IT personnel are able to access operational data directly and immediately to assist in timely decision making.
The integrity and continuity of data acquired with the Plant2Business system is virtually guaranteed, even when computers or networks fail, thanks to a free integrated historian function.
This allows data to be stored locally, within the historian itself, or transferred simply to an MS-SQL database using the connector provided.
Interfacing seamlessly to the Plant2Business Historian or business database is Citect's Plant2Net web server, with its five (concurrent) browser client application licences.
Plant2Net allows data to be viewed and analysed using the Excel and Crystal report templates within the browser clients.
Access to the data is controlled by a security system, which defines user privilege and password protection.
