CitectSCADA now supports complete Allen Bradley PLC offering

CitectSCADA now supports complete Allen Bradley PLC offering Citect, one of the world's largest, real-time intelligence software companies announced the release of its latest drivers, the CitectSCADA Drivers for Allen Bradley MicroLogix programmable logic controllers (PLCs), as part of its ongoing commitment to open connectivity These drivers will communicate natively with Allen Bradley MicroLogix PLCs 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1500 models

In addition, these new drivers enable CitectSCADA to support the full range of Allen Bradley PLCs.

As part of the Allen Bradley MicroLogix communication solution, these drivers allow CitectSCADA users to benefit from both serial point-to-point communication via the full duplex DF1 protocol and Ethernet communication via the 1761-NET-ENI module using the EIP protocol.

They are capable of polling 3000 tags from a single PLC within 500 milliseconds on the baseline computer.

Early users of the drivers attest to their ease of use.

"These drivers are easy to configure and greatly reduce programming time in getting Micrologix data into CitectSCADA," says Nathan Franklin, Control Systems Technician, BHP Billiton, Nickel West.

"In response to our customers and OEM partners, Citect has developed these latest drivers for native communication with Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1500 PLCs".
