Breaking the mould
Tim Wright, IMD Manager at Autotype International, discusses the relative merits of a new process that is set to change the way we decorate products for good.
In Mould Decorating 2004 is designed to bring together the leading experts in the field, and will focus on the latest advances in technology, commercial applications and future developments.
The process of in-mould decoration, especially the technique of film insert moulding, is rapidly gaining popularity as a method of decorating and producing three dimensional plastic parts, with manufacturers across a variety of industries recognising its potential and cost benefits.
As the first guest speaker of the event, Wright will be examining examples of where film insert moulding is replacing post-mould operations and observing a shift in trends in the automotive industry towards larger exterior 3D parts, improved interior effects and multicomponent integration.
Wright will also be analysing trends in other key markets such as the electronics and appliance sectors, and discussing issues such as customisation and durability of graphics.
The search for new markets, such as point of sale, and maximising the return from film insert moulding will conclude Wright's presentation. Request free introductory details about products from MacDermid Autotype ...
