MacDermid Autotype has won the British Safety Council International Safety Award for the third year running.

MacDermid Autotype has won the British Safety Council International Safety Award for the third year running.

This is the tenth time the company's safety record has been recognised by a British Safety Council Award.

The award is for the company's excellent safety record in 2006, in which it achieved an accident incident rate that was 20% lower than the industry standard.

In order to win the award, the company presented a comprehensive safety plan for 2006 with evidence of the completion of identified activities, and also showed areas of continuous improvement in safety during the year, and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to safety training.

Other requisites for the award included a comprehensive safety policy statement applicable to all site activities, proof that safety responsibilities are recognised at board level, adequate and appropriate quality of risk assessments for activities on site, and evidence of staff being appropriately trained in safety and regulatory issues.

Peter Levinsohn, President of MacDermid Autotype , commented, "We are delighted to win the award for a record tenth time".

"It is a testament to the commitment of our employees to health and safety at all of our of sites across the world".

"The targets that we have set for this year are even more demanding".

"We believe the only acceptable result is a zero accident record".

Speaking about the award, the Prime Minister said, "I offer my congratulations to all of the organisations being presented with an award by the British Safety Council".

"These awards recognise the critical success they have achieved in their pursuit of excellence in the management of health, safety and environmental matters".

The award will be formally presented on Friday 18th May.
