Provider of engineering data management services for the automotive and aerospace industries buys UK developer of product-design communication and collaboration products.

NTT company Autoweb, a provider of engineering data management services for the automotive and aerospace industries, has acquired Datranet Based in the UK, Datranet is a developer of product-design communication and collaboration products

Effective immediately, Datranet will do business as Autoweb.

Nino DiCosmo, Autoweb's Chairman, President and CEO, said: "The union provides Autoweb with an enhanced product portfolio and a broader global reach".

The firms hope that merging products and services will drive innovation through integration of CAD, product lifecycle management (PLM) and communication systems that automate engineering processes.

Customers of both organisations will have one outlet for products using Autoweb and the Odette File Transfer Protocol.

"Datranet is excited to join the Autoweb team," said Martyn Davies, Managing Director of Datranet.

"Jointly we will be able to offer unique, state-of-the-art products that will take us to the next level".
