Hosted, product data management service provides companies with version tracking, lifecycle management, file level management, file import and export capabilities, and document search capabilities.

Autoweb has launched Data Vault, a lightweight, hosted, product data management (PDM) on-demand service based model for companies in the small- to mid-sized markets It provides users with tools such as version tracking, lifecycle management, file level management, file import and export capabilities, and document search capabilities

The benefits of PDM, such as reduced data errors, increased intellectual property protection and increased engineering efficiencies, have long been realised by larger manufacturers but not by the small- to mid-sized market because of the resources required to implement these systems.

By delivering the Data Vault in a hosted environment, Autoweb brings product data management capability to markets previously unable to deploy these systems internally.

"Autoweb is bringing to market a business model that we believe will be valuable for our target manufacturing customers," said Nino DiCosmo, Chairman, President and CEO of Autoweb.
