Advantech has introduced the AWS-8248V to complement its existing range modular workstations designed for use in factories and other harsh environments.

Equipped with a large 15in TFT LCD display the AWS-8248V has a three-card cage design that provides 14-slot expansion capability to give maximum flexibility in a wide range of applications.

Card cages are retained by thumbscrew fasteners and slide out to allow easy access for the addition of new cards, hard disk drives (HDDs) and power supplies.

The AWS-8248 has housings to support one front panel accessed 3.5in FDD, two 3.5in HDDs and one 3.5in CD-ROM.

Two fans are built in to provide cooling for power supplies and plug-in cards.

The workstation has an aluminium front panel to prevent damage by acid, salt and other aggressive substances that may be present in harsh industrial environments.

An aluminium door with integral rubber seal protects and provides access to front panel controls that include LEDs, power and system reset switches, a 5-pin keyboard DIN connector and the 3.5in FDD housing.

The AWS-8248V is waterproof and NEMA4/IP65 compliant.

The 15in TFT LCD display gives a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 and has 262K colours.

The workstation has two membrane keypads; one with 39 operating keys and the other with 10 function keys and 10 programmable macro function keys, on screen display (OSD) operating keys are also provided.

If required the AWS-8248V can be supplied with an analogue resistive touchscreen with RS232 interface.

Operating temperature for the CE, FCC and BSMI compliant unit is 0 to +50C.
