Meshing service speeds CFD and FEA
AVL List is offering industry's first online meshing and grid generation service for CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and FEA (finite element analysis) applications.
The first release of this solution platform is expected in the first half of 2004.
Further, the solution platform will be flexibly packaged so that AVL and Abaqus customers can fully leverage existing investments in both companies' software products.
AVL software and related services support the entire range of virtual prototyping in the powertrain industry, including the complex process of internal combustion engine development.
Abaqus has been selected by a number of major automotive companies as their strategic solution for high-fidelity finite element analysis (FEA).
The partnership represents a best-in-class approach, combining industry-specific solutions from AVL with a general-purpose FEA technology solution from Abaqus.
"Federal Mogul uses AVL solutions and Abaqus as strategic tools in our product development process", commented Dr Uwe Lehmann, Senior Manager, Design and Analysis Bearings at FM.
"We are encouraged by the new agreement between the companies and look forward to the improved integration and solutions that are planned".
"Our extended partnership with Abaqus will enable AVL to meet current and future needs for high-fidelity simulation in an integrated workflow", commented Dr Gotthard Rainer, Vice President Advanced Simulation Technologies, AVL.
"The highest level of integration between Abaqus and AVL Excite will enable faster, more accurate prediction of key powertrain design parameters, helping our customers to further refine their advanced engine designs".
"Abaqus is delighted to tighten our business and technical relationship with AVL", commented Ken Short, Vice President of Marketing at Abaqus.
"As leaders in the powertrain arena this agreement is a natural fit for both companies which will lead to better solutions for our customers".
