Endeva standardises on AVO testers
Endeva, the UK's leading service organisation for consumer electronics and domestic appliances, has selected AVO as the company's principal supplier of portable test equipment.
Endeva, the UK's leading service organisation for consumer electronics and domestic appliances, has selected AVO as the company's principal supplier of portable test equipment AVO products in use by Endeva, which offers appliance repair and installation services throughout the UK, include insulation/continuity testers, loop testers and digital multimeters
"As a servicing organisation, we are judged first and foremost on our efficiency", said David Hatch, Training and Technical Services Manager of Endeva, "which means that when we make a service call, we have to locate problems rapidly and precisely, so we can take the necessary corrective action".
"To achieve this", continued Hatch, "our technicians rely very much on their test equipment, which is why we need instruments that are accurate, robust and dependable.
We have found that products from AVO ideally satisfy these requirements, while also offering excellent value for money".
The services provided by Endeva cover televisions, VCRs, DVDs, digital reception equipment and other brown goods, as well as an extensive range of white goods, including washing machines, tumble dryers and refrigeration products.
As significant proportion of the Endeva installers' work is involved with pre-installation checks for new equipment.
These tests are essential to ensure that the electrical installation in the house where the equipment is to be used is safe, and is capable of supporting the additional load.
For these tests, Megger LT5 loop testers are proving invaluable.
These instruments provide an accurate indication of earth loop impedance in just four seconds, and require only a single button press to operate.
Just entering service with Endeva are the new LT7 loop testers, which offer all of the benefits of the LT5 model, but additionally offer the option of a low-current loop impedance test which does not trip RCD protection devices.
Insulation testing, to confirm the safety of equipment which may have been in service for some time, is another important aspect of Endeva's work, and is facilitated by the use of MEGGER BM401 insulation/continuity testers.
These instruments have a fixed insulation test voltage of 500V, which matches Endeva's requirements exactly.
They also offer rapid continuity testing, which is useful for testing fuses, supply leads and earth bonding, and, as a useful bonus, the instruments offer resistance ranges up to 100kohm, along with voltage ranges up to 600V.
For general servicing work, Endeva finds AVO International's Megger M5091 and M5097 digital multimeters to be an ideal choice.
Featuring compact construction, and offering a basic accuracy of 0.5%, these meters have voltage ranges up to 900V DC and 600V AC, current ranges up to 20A AC or DC, and resistance ranges up to 20Mohm.
They also incorporate a fast-response audible continuity tester.
"An important feature of the instruments we buy from AVO is their robust construction", said Endeva's David Hatch.
"A few knocks are unavoidable in servicing work, and the instruments must be able to take them without being damaged or having their accuracy compromised".
"Another essential consideration is safety", he continued.
"We know that instruments from AVO, and the accessories, such as test leads, which go with them, are all designed and tested to meet the highest safety standards.
This not only provides protection for our workforce, but also for our customers". Request free introductory details about products from Megger ...
