Testers tackle telecomms insulation
Megger has a comprehensive range of instruments which provide fast, reliable and safe insulation testing for virtually every telecommunication application.
Megger has a comprehensive range of instruments which provide fast, reliable and safe insulation testing for virtually every telecommunication application Each instrument in the range offers a choice of five test voltages from 50 to 1000V, making them equally suitable for use on sensitive electronic circuits, and on mains-derived power supplies

Handheld testers star in catalogue
No fewer than 50 instruments, ranging from insulation and continuity testers to LCR test sets, are featured in the new handheld product catalogue from Megger.
Fibre-optic testing now easier to perform
Fast, comprehensive testing of fibre-optic installations is now easier to perform with the latest range of low-cost Megger fibre-optic light sources and power meters
All instruments provide accurate insulation resistance readings up to 200Gohm or more, allowing insulation deterioration to be detected before it reaches the point where a total failure occurs.
Megger's lowest-cost insulation tester for telecommunication applications, the BM80 provides all of the above facilities in a handy and robust pocket-sized instrument, with a large clear dual digital/analogue display.
It also has useful continuity testing and resistance measuring facilities, and two voltage ranges covering 1 to 50 and 0 to 600V, AC or DC.
The BMM80 adds a capacity range, which can be particularly useful in determining the location of cable breaks in applications where the approximate capacitance per unit length of the cable under test is known.
This rugged IP54-protected instrument also features an instant-response zap buzzer with selectable thresholds for rapid continuity checking, a large back-lit Megger Dart display, and a millivolt probe facility allowing measurement of numerous parameters simply by connecting an appropriate probe.
For telecommunication applications where insulation testing is a prime requirement, but an instrument sufficiently versatile to provide a wide range of other tests is needed, Megger offers the BMM2080 and the BMM2580.
Both of these high-specification instruments incorporate additional multimeter facilities to measure parameters such as current, and they provide frequency measurement from 16 to 460Hz.
The BMM2580 allows results to be stored with references to their respective circuit and distribution board, and it also has an integral data logging system which may be set to record continuously any of the measurable parameters, such as insulation resistance, voltage or current.
The logging interval can be set between 10s and 1990s in 10s increments, and, on completion of the test, the results are available for download via an RS232 data port. Request a free brochure from Megger ...
