Tester takes on latest high-voltage
procedures

The new Series MEG10-01 portable 10kV insulation test set provides safe, convenient and accurate insulation testing on high-voltage rotating machines.

Following the introduction of insulation testing at 10kV as an option for high-voltage rotating machines, Megger has introduced the new Series MEG10-01 portable 10kV insulation test set, which makes it easy to carry out the necessary tests safely, conveniently and with a high degree of accuracy Suitable for operation from the mains supply or from an internal rechargeable battery pack, the MEG10-01 test set fully meets the requirements of IEEE43:2000 "IEEE recommended practice for testing insulation resistance of rotating machines", which permits 10kV insulation testing for 750W motors or larger, which are rated at more than12kV

The test set can also perform insulation tests at 500, 1000, 2500 and 5000V, making it the ideal choice for those involved with the manufacture and maintenance of motors of all types.

The instrument's measuring range is up to 500Gohm for test voltages of 5 and 10kV when using the digital display, and up to 1Tohm for all test voltages when using the analogue display.

All results are shown on a large, easy-to-read LCD panel, and are stored for subsequent download and analysis.

Facilities are also provided for downloading the results in real-time while the test is being carried out.

In addition to performing insulation tests, Megger's new instrument also performs automatic polarisation index tests.

These are an invaluable aid to assessing the condition of insulation before applying the potentially destructive test voltages used in normal insulation testing.

For both insulation and polarisation index tests, an integral timer shows the duration of the test in minutes and seconds, and can also be used to stop the test after a predetermined interval.

To ensure safe operation, capacitive loads are automatically discharged at the end of each test, and the instrument's display continues to show the voltage present until this has decayed to a safe level.

A flashing LED also shows the presence of potentially dangerous voltages.

Designed for convenience and ease of use, the MEG10-01 insulation tester is housed in a rugged carrying case which also accommodates the test leads. Request a free brochure from Megger ...
