The software is supplied preloaded with a comprehensive library of test macros which can be combined, using simple, graphical drag-and-drop techniques, to produce an almost unlimited range of test routines.
This approach allows test routines to be developed in minutes, rather than the days or even weeks needed with conventional development techniques based on programming, or writing macros.
In addition, the level of specialist computer knowledge required for test routine development is greatly reduced, allowing engineers to make effective use of the AVTS software without the need to go through a long and costly learning curve.
As standard, Megger's AVTS software includes characteristics for many commonly used relays.
Operating characteristics for other types can easily be added using representations which include mho circles, lenticular and tomato characteristics, and by entering combinations of lines and curves.
In addition, printed or hand-drawn time/current curves can be scanned directly into the program, providing big time savings over the conventional approach of manually generating time tables.
In addition to offering an extensive range of standard and customisable reports, which can include test settings, relay setting lists and device schedules, AVTS software can also provide utility management, with comprehensive data on maintenance scheduling, asset management and relay location.
Using the standard Comtrade format, an actual fault can be replayed at any convenient time, providing an invaluable aid to evaluation of or fault-finding on protective relay systems.
AVTS is now Megger's standard software package for all aspects of protective relay management and testing.
