Megger's MDP distribution profilers give power utilities a convenient and accurate way of acquiring the key information needed to monitor power flow on feeders and overhead lines.
With virtually unlimited data recording capacity, easy installation and lightweight, durable construction, distribution profilers in Megger's new MDP series give power utilities a convenient and accurate way of acquiring the key information needed to monitor power flow on feeders and overhead lines.
Three models of MDP distribution profiler are available, ranging from a simple current-only version to an advanced unit that offers a number of market-requested features, such as waveform capture and harmonic analysis.
The economical entry-level MDP1 records actual current RMS magnitude up to 1000A, with an additional 200A over-range.
The mid-range MDP2 adds recording of relative voltage RMS magnitude together with power and power factor, while the advanced MDP3, in addition to all the features of the MDP2, provides facilities for waveform capture as well as the recording harmonics and THD.
Should the user's requirements change, the MDP1 and MDP2 versions can be easily and economically upgraded to offer the features of the higher specified models.
All Megger's MDP distribution profilers have a large nonvolatile memory that allows for almost unlimited data recording.
In addition, data is safely retained even if the unit's batteries fail.
The RMS response interval of the instruments is user selectable from 10 to 60 cycles and the RMS storage interval may be set from two seconds to six hours.
Depending on the response and RMS storage intervals selected, the profilers can record for days, weeks or even months.
To complement its new MDP distribution profilers, Megger offers its versatile Metrosoft software package.
This is completely menu-driven and offers easy, "fill in the form" instrument set up and configuration; data retrieval from up to four profilers at a specific site; specific data file location, and voltage/current and demand data chart access.
With this combination of instruments and software, system planners, distribution engineers and troubleshooters can easily acquire, access and review data for such purposes as peak load value time and growth studies, phase and load imbalance surveys, time and day fluctuation analysis, and capacitor bank placement analysis.
