Installation testers are a hit with students

A Megger product story

Shrewsbury College recently appealed for help from major test instrument suppliers in the UK, and Megger was the only one to respond.

Eager to provide its students with the best possible practical experience in electrical testing, Shrewsbury College recently appealed for help from major test instrument suppliers in the UK.

Out of all the companies approached, Megger was the only one to respond.

And, the response was backed by action.

Not only did Lee Baker, Megger's Sales Engineer for the Shrewsbury area, attend and assist with the College's training sessions in the use of electrical instruments, he also took with him samples Megger's popular MFT1502 and MFT1552 multifunction installation testers for students to use during the sessions.

"The support we receive from Megger is really superb", says Pete Shearer, Electrical Installation Instructor at Shrewsbury College.

"Lee Baker provides clear and honest explanations of electrical testing procedures based on his wide practical experience, and never attempts to turn his presentations into a sales pitch".

"The truth is that he probably doesn't need to", adds Shearer.

"Once our students have seen how easy it is to work with the Megger instruments and to understand the readings, they invariably want to stick with them".

"In fact, some of the students are already saving to buy Megger MFT testers of their own".

To emphasise the practical benefits and ease of use of Megger instruments, Shearer quotes the example of a student he asked to carry out a 5I RCD test at 180 degrees using a Megger MFT1502.

Only when the student had successfully completed the test did Shearer point out that he'd operated the instrument entirely intuitively, as he had been given no instruction at all in performing tests of this type.

Its support for Shrewsbury College is just one aspect of Megger's on-going commitment to supporting educational establishments.

The company has recently launched its Training Centre and College Campaign to assist with introducing students to the test and measurement requirements of the 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, and it also offers a wide range of free publications covering virtually every aspect of electrical testing.
