Vibration recorder cuts setup complexity
All data and reports can be accessed via the web and the Spi-VR can import data such as oil analysis readings direct from the laboratory.
AV Technology (AVT) has released the Spi-VR (spectrum inspection and vibration recorder) Vibration measurement and analysis is one of the most powerful tools in a well implemented CM program and the use of hand-held data collectors has increased significantly over the past five years

Keeping Shell out of the heat
Out-sourced thermography consultancy has been used successfully to identify potential problem areas on three furnaces at Shell's Stanlow Refinery.
However, according to AVT, existing "high-end" data collection systems have a number of key operational shortcomings, especially when a large and diverse number of pieces of equipment need monitoring on a regular basis.
The company claims that most collection systems require high-level database set-up and support, usually requiring setup on a PC before readings can be taken.
Also, the software, which can be expensive to buy, licence and operate, typically has complex setting combinations, placing significant demands on the user during set-up and training.
AVT's Training Services Director, Simon Mills said "The development of the Spi-VR has used feedback from our own extensive CM field experience and vibration analysis training".
"We are confident the design addresses existing hand-held data collector shortcomings and brings a wealth of additional benefits for the user".
"The system has successfully completed UK field trials and 30 units are currently in service with four operators".
"The robust handheld instrument uses a novel concept in data collection and the dynamic Machine Wizards make it easy to set up, easy to manage and simple to train on and operate".
"Its output is a simple 'maintenance decision' to aid machine reliability and maintenance effectiveness".
All data and reports can be accessed via the web and the instrument has the capability to import data such as oil analysis readings direct from the laboratory.
On-screen equipment pictograms and built-in set-up templates aid effective data collection, while traffic light alerts and trends immediately highlight critical areas within the plant.
Automatic web-delivered software updates ensure users have access to the latest operational information. Request a free brochure from AV Technology ...
