AV to exhibit condition monitoring system

An AV Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 27, 2009

The AV Technology (AVT) focus for this year's Maintec Exhibition (stand 65) will be its Spi-VR condition monitoring system.

At the heart of this system is the Spi-VR hand-held data collector, which incorporates vibration analysis with common maintenance and lubrication tools into one package.

AVT claim that it is so easy to use that engineers with no experience can set up the instrument and start collecting vibration data from critical equipment in less than a day.

Pictograms displayed on the PDA allow the user to set up screens for equipment such as motors, fans, pumps, drives and conveyors - in fact anything that moves or rotates.

As data is collected, traffic light alerts and trends immediately highlight critical areas within the plant.

In-built vibration limits are in line with ISO standards including ISO 10816.

Spi-VR also enables users to manage routine maintenance activity from the hand-held device.

The Spi-VR website enables access to data for analysis, reporting and administration.

The Spi-VR system is ideal for the growing trend of CM in-sourcing, where external companies such as AVT provide expertise and advice to clients via a dedicated web portal.

AVT can carry out any initial training and work closely with clients to establish a system and database.

Routine data collection can then be carried out without the need for site visits.

AVT engineers can access the data at any time of day, anywhere in the world and offer advice as and when needed.

Additional CM critical data such as oil analysis, acoustic emission and thermography information can also be loaded into the Spi-VR system.
