Alrose Products (British Gas Springs) has used many thousands of Igus bearings to assist in the smoothness and friction-free running of gas springs and dampers.

Alrose Products (British Gas Springs) has used many thousands of Igus bearings, in diameters from 6 to 14mm, to assist in the smoothness and friction-free running of many permutations of gas springs and dampers The bearings are scheduled from Igus in quantities of several thousands per annum, and are a unique selling point in for both Igus and Alrose in favour of the British Gas Springs product, having eliminated the marking on the rods caused by a previous metal bearings, which were a mixture of aluminium and leaded bronze

Igus bearings can be used under all conditions (except very high temperature areas) from -40 to +100C and in seawater applications, sometimes literally under the sea.

Ongoing, Alrose is researching into other uses of the Igus material within the gas spring for future development.

These could include the use of food grade material.

Igus and Alrose (British Gas Springs) are together proud of having achieved a world first in gas springs.

A new line of gas springs is to be marketed by British Gas Springs under the name Marineline and all of these will incorporate the Igus bearing.
