Gauging probes more flexible for production lines
A 32mm spindle stroke model added to a range of digital gauging probes enables a longer measurement range and provides more flexibility in incorporating the probe into a continuous production line
This new series of linear encoders brings to the market the worldûs smallest magnetic signal period of 40um with full industry standard referencing options.
The lineup of three models provides measuring lengths from 70 to 2040mm with a choice of accuracy grades of +/-3 or +/-5um.
The available output signals are 1V peak-peak sinusoidal based on 40um signal period or TLL (EIA422) with resolution steps 0.05 to 1um.
The referencing options are single, multiple and distance coded.
The scale dimensions and installation method provide close compatibility with other popular feedback linear encoders reducing the need for OEMs to make design changes to their machines.
The new technologies include high-density magnetic coating technique of the grating, DLC (diamond like carbon) coating material of the MR reading head and MR sensing pattern cancelling temperature drift and high harmonic frequency.
An intelligent microprocessor circuit in the encoder reading head eliminates the need for any trimmers or user adjustment of the output signals.
The SR34 model, with direct 0.1um resolution TTL output, has real-time autocompensation circuit of the DC, gain and phase.
The incorporation of all these new technologies result in an interpolation error of less than 0.3um and speed capability of 150m/min.
Under test conditions the introduction of condensation, normally found in the machine tool environment, resulted in no deterioration of the interpolation error.
Although designed to meet a wide range of machine applications the SR33/34 will initially be marketed at the grinding machine sector where the accuracy performance combined with resistance to the effects of condensation are the features most sought after.
Ultra-Magnescale is the latest unique encoder development from Sony Precision Technology; other products include the Digiruler tape scale and ultra-high accuracy Laserscales.
