Amphenol Industrial Operations introduces field-installable compression lug with higher ampacity, lower insertion force, higher cycle durability and increased reliability.

Amphenol Industrial Operations has introduced a field-installable compression lug with higher ampacity, lower insertion force, higher cycle durability and increased reliability The Plastic Sur-Lok compression lug is for medical, process control, heavy plant and rail industry applications and any equipment with high current cables that are frequently plugged and unplugged

It has two locking mechanisms that ensure a secure connection to maintain voltage and amperage levels.

The head of the pin locks into place once mated to the socket.

In addition, the head snaps into the inside of the plastic cap for a more secure connection.

The lug uses standard colour codes to specify the wire size needed.

Any standard U-indent/clamshell or four-indenter crimp tool can perform the crimp termination on the wire, eliminating the need for a special crimp tool.

It is RoHS-compliant and uses the firm's Radsok contact technology to increase ampacity.

Radsok uses the tensile strength properties of the flat, high conductivity alloy grid for the high normal forces required for conductivity, while providing a large conductive surface area.

This results in a correspondingly low voltage drop and low temperature rise while maintaining low insertion forces.

Plastic Sure-Lok is available in four sizes.

The 3.6mm contact (70A with 8AWG) has a threaded tail termination, while the 5.7mm contact (95A with 6AWG), 8.0mm contact (170A with 2AWG), and 10.3mm contact (350A with 2/0AWG) have tapped tail terminations.
