Amphenol unveils 1,500A connectors

An Amphenol Industrial Operations product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 7, 2008

Amphenol Industrial Operations has introduced RoHS-compliant, rugged connectors that provide up to 1,500A in power applications.

Star-Line EX connectors are certified for use in Zone 1-llc hazardous environments and are suitable for applications in harsh environments, such as wind farms and oil/gas exploration, as well as industrial manufacturing and processing.

They provide electrical, design and instrumentation engineers with a fast and safe interconnection to modular equipment.

They come with solder, crimp or pressure terminals, eliminating the need for hard-wiring to terminal blocks enclosed in junction boxes, and offering significant time/cost savings during equipment installation or tear-down.

In addition to stainless steel or brass casings, the Star-Line EX series is available with a lightweight aluminium casing, precision-machined from high tensile strength bar stock and finished with a hard-anodised coating to 40 points on the Rockwell C scale.

The Star-Line EX Series features a dielectric strength of 1,800V and heat resistance up to 399C.

Amphenol also offers an extensive range of interchangeable and reversible backshell arrangements and contact inserts, including power (up to 1,500A at 1,000V), signal (up to 143 contacts), and mixed power and control configurations.

The copper contacts are silver-plated as standard but the option for gold plating is available.
