As a result of this distribution agreement, Union Supplies is now the largest stockist of Baldor explosion-proof motors in Europe.
According to Lee Williamson, Managing Director of Union Supplies: "Baldor manufactures about 350 different types of explosion-proof AC and DC electric motors, and we will be expanding our existing product portfolio to include a wide variety of these models in two-, four- and six-pole configurations, with power ratings up to 150hp".
"These will all be held in our Aberdeen warehouse facility and available for same or next-day delivery, which is a vital consideration for our customers in the oil and gas industries, where system downtime on a production platform can carry huge cost penalties".

Grampian Foods has installed Baldor's special washdown-duty motors to refurbish feather plucking machinery at several of its UK sites - in a move designed to optimise reliability.
Union Supplies is extremely well positioned to handle the fast service requirements of its key customers, as Andrew Stephenson, Baldor UK Sales Manager, points out: "Union Supplies is ideally located at the centre of its core business activities".
"Aberdeen is the largest oil-related city in Europe, and is served by a first rate international airport, with two terminals dedicated to North Sea helicopter operations".
"As part of the distributor agreement, Union Supplies will operate an express air freight service with Baldor's motor manufacturing and warehouse facilities in the USA, enabling any US-stocked product to be delivered within two to three days".
Baldor and Union Supplies attach considerable importance to the electric motor market within the oil and gas industries, and will be jointly hosting Stand 103 at the Offshore Europe 2005 exhibition in Aberdeen during September.
This event is now one of the most significant in the petroleum industry's calendar; in 2003 it attracted more than 26,000 people, with contracts totalling over US $325 million being announced or signed at the show.
Union Supplies will also be taking the opportunity at OE05 to highlight its commitment to the local community.
The company is currently holding a raffle on its website for an Ariel Atom sports car, with all profits going to the Aberdeen-based Cash for Kids children's charity.
