Relay watches out for earth faults

A Basler Electric Company product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 16, 2005

A new field ground relay can be used to detect earth faults on the field windings of electrical machines, such as motors and generators.

Basler Electric has released a new field ground (64F) relay, the BE1-64F.

This relay is used to detect earth faults on the field windings of electrical machines, such as motors and generators.

The BE1-64F fits into the same cutout as many alternative field ground relays with a more modern design and less expensive price.

It offers two fixed levels of ground detection - a pre-alarm level and a trip level.

Each level has an independent LED indicator and output contact.

A latching target LED indicates a trip condition even after the ground is removed, and the target LED drive circuit is magnetically latched, so that the LED will return to the illuminated state following an interruption of control power to the BE1-64F.
