X-y-z packages might typically comprise a Luge LM stage, with integral motor built onto a ball screw, an Ultra with a linear motor, and a Z-Wedge, also with a shaft mounted motor.
Each product is employed for its respective characteristics.
The Luge LM (x axis) is ideal for stepping motion duty, where its high dynamic stiffness would enhance system settling qualities whilst the integral motor eliminates compliance problems arising between screw and motor.
Travels are up to 1.4m with velocities of 215mm/s and accelerations of 29m/s2.
The linear motor version of the Ultra (y axis) can achieve submicron accuracy with repeatability of +/-1 encoder count.
This is complemented by precision crossed bearings for smooth low-friction motion, plus the patented AutoFlex Preload technology that eliminates the effects of thermal expansion/contraction on bearing performance.
For the z-axis, the Z-Wedge provides vertical motion with submicron accuracy achieved via the C3 Class precision ground ball screw driven by the brushless servomotor with integrated rotary encoder.
Crossed roller bearings ensure low friction and straight-line accuracy.
Vertical motion is achieved by driving a central wedge horizontally to effect pure vertical displacement.
